Spokesperson for Government of Sindh, Sukhdev Hemnani has said that the Sindh Government, under the leadership of the Pakistan Peoples Party, has launched a groundbreaking initiative to distribute 10,000 free electric bikes exclusively to women workers across the province. This bold step aims to enhance women’s mobility, independence and economic empowerment.
The electric bikes will be distributed through fully digital and transparent balloting and registration system to guarantee fairness and accessibility.
Sukhdev Hemnani stated that Sindh Government has expanded its women-centric transport services. “Before the free electric bikes, pink scooties, pink taxis, and pink buses – ensuring safe and accessible travel options – were already added to revolutionize public transport in Sindh. With these initiatives, we are taking a giant leap toward gender equality in mobility,” he highlighted.
Hemnani further added that these pro-women steps reflect PPP’s long-standing commitment to women’s empowerment, inspired by the vision of Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto and carried forward under Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari.
“Sindh has already taken the lead in legislating progressive laws and introduced initiatives like the remarkable Sindh People’s Housing, which is transferring land titles to the women. Now with advancements in transport, we are fulfilling our commitment to ensuring equitable access to public resources for women,” stated Hemnani.
