KARACHI: Former mayor of Karachi and Pak Sarzameen Party (PSP) Chief Syed Mustafa Kamal said that his party’s rally on Friday will be the largest one in history.
Preparations concerning PSP’s rally in Karachi have been completed and welcoming camps have been set up in the city’s busy areas including Gulistan-e-Jauhar, Gulshan-e-Iqbal, Five Star Chowrangi, Saddar as well as other areas. The party chairman also visited some of the camps that have been set up last night in order to review the arrangements.
While addressing his workers, he said that the absence of hygiene and cleanliness in Karachi, lack of water and the hapless sewerage system in the city was causing problems for citizens. He urged the people to participate in the rally in order to register their protest at such problems.
He also claimed during his address to party loyalists and supporters that Friday’s rally would break all previous record of rallies in Karachi. Supporters of the PSP have often clashed with the workers of Muttahida Quami Movement (MQM) in the past.
Kamal, who was an integral member of the MQM and a former senator from the party’s platform as well, arrived earlier this year and held a press conference in which he subjected MQM chief Altaf Hussain to severe criticism. Ever since then, many MQM office bearers and lawmakers have defected to Kamal’s camp.
